The World of

Arldien

Carved by the Elementals in the distant past, the world of Arldien is comprised of two primary continents: Aramentium in the west, and Embarial in the east.

Centuries ago, a war between mortals, demons, and gods demanded a drastic toll. To prevent the Prime Material Plane from being consumed by the energies of the Outer Planes, a group of heroes calling themselves the Ember Legion dove through the fires of war to defy the gods and sever the connection between Arldien and the astral realms.

As a result, magic vanished from the land, and a dark age began while the old heroes faded to obscurity. The Oprishniki roamed the land, witch-hunters driven to cruelty by their fear of residual arcana. The once-noble Ember Legion was twisted by the ambitions of Lycan the Betrayer, and became a despotic force with a zealous following. The forces of the dragons swept over the land, the mighty wyrms now unchecked by powerful mages who might have held them at bay. Arldien drowned in terror and blood.

Still, a light shone in the darkness, the light of reason: scientific progress brought the advent of the Roaring-Lances, weapons which could pierce a dragon's hide as surely as they could conquer a continent. As the dragons were repelled, great empires began to rise from the ashes through the machinations of both war and diplomacy. Doylin, The Ember Imperium, Gladios, Tar Aranie; these forces stood as pillars of the newfound might of mortal civilization. Soon, magic blossomed again, and Arldien experienced a new revolution.

Now, in the time of the Arcano-Industrial Age, new storms are brewing even as the people flourish. The collision of magic and technology has yielded discoveries both magnificent and horrifying. The great empires of the world have generated unprecedented prosperity while at the same time inflicted unspeakable cruelties in the name of colonialism and economy. Beneath it all, dark forces stir, ancient powers who have slept since the time of the Old Heroes...

Come join us at the table as new heroes quest to rise against the gathering darkness of men and gods. Come join us at the table as we explore a venerable world reconciling with its past while hurtling towards the future. Come join us...
